Today’s card was totally inspired by the picture from above.  It’s a rug from a home catalog that I received from the mail. When I first saw it, the Word Window Punch and Stampin’ Up! colors  – So Saffron, Tangerine Tango and Basic Gray immediately came to my mind.  I just have to case it for today’s project.  Finished card size :  5-1/2″ x 4-1/4 ”

This is a quick and simple card to create and is very masculine indeed.  The sentiment was again from the Word Play Stamp Set and was heat embossed with the Brand New Tangerine Tango Embossing Powder from the Summer Mini Catalog.  I created a rough edge around the stamped sentiment, this was done by torn the cardstock and inked around the edges with Tangerine Tango ink.  The card was embellished with a Mini Library Clip.

Here, I created the same card but stamped and heat embossed with a different sentiment.  The sentiment was again from the same Word Play Stamp Set.

Supplies:

  • Stamp Set: Stamp Set: Word Play (120308- Wood Mount or 120651 Clear Mount)
  • Paper: So Saffron, Tangerine Tango, Basic Gray, Very Vanilla
  • Ink: VersaMark (102283), Tangerine Tango (111834)
  • Tools/ Accessories: Word Window Punch (119857), 3/16″ Corner Punch (119871), Tangerine Tango Stampin’ Embossing Powder (123106), Heat Tool (100005), Embossing Buddy (103083), Mini Library Clips (109857), Stamping Sponges (101610), Stampin’ Dimensionals (104430), Snail Adhesive (104332)

Finding the perfect sentiment or message for a card can be sometimes difficult, especially if I want it in a specific font or layout. My Digital Studio (MDS) is the perfect solution to do this and I can customized or personalized it however I want. Today’s card is one of them where I used both MDS as well as stamping. Finished card size: 3-1/2″ x 5″

I chose Stampin’ Up! Note Card (107311) as the base of the card. The 24-7 heart stamp image was from the Pretty Postage Stamp Set and was heat embossed with Melon Mambo Embossing Powder and punched out with Postage Stamp Punch. (All these products are BRAND NEW and are currently feature in the Summer Mini Catalog). I just love the Melon Mambo Embossing Powder, it stands out pretty nicely against dark colored card stock. (Tip: I always used an Embossing Buddy and rubbed across the card stock to reduce static before stamping. This keeps any unwanted flecks of embossing powder from sticking to the card stock and hence created the perfect embossed image).

The background of the card was created using MDS.  I used 4 square punched outs from the software and color filled each one with different Designer Series Paper.  The colors I used were Pumpkin Pie and Tempting Turquoise.  I added Melon Mambo Grosgrain Ribbon and Chocolate Chip Stitches from the embellishment section of the software.  I typed my own sentiment and used the font ‘Apple Chancery’ in Melon Mambo color.  One of the perks from MDS is it allows you to use the font  directly from your computer.  The border around the sentiment was from one of the Scallop Brush Stamp Set from the software.  After I was happy with the layout, I exported the artwork as a jpeg file and printed out from my home printer.  I trimmed down the artwork and used a Paper Piercing tool and pierced holes to created the faux stitching look and embellished with Basic Pearls.  The printed artwork was layered onto Chocolate Chip card stock then onto the Note Card.

Here, I used the same layout but changed the sentiment and sent out to my customers.

Supplies:

  • Stamp Set: Pretty Postage (123095- Wood Mount or 122344 Clear Mount)
  • Paper: Note Cards (107311), Chocolate Chip
  • Ink: VersaMark (102283)
  • Tools/ Accessories: My Digital Studio (118108), Postage Stamp Punch (122344), Melon Mambo Stampin’ Embossing Powder (123223), Heat Tool (100005), Embossing Buddy (103083), Paper-Piercing Tool (116631), Mat Pack (105826), Basic Pearls (119247), Stampin’ Dimensionals (104430), Snail Adhesive (104332)

I squared up the Top Note Die for today’s project and they are also my October Thank You cards. Finished card size : 4″ x 4″
squared top note card
The photo cannot do its justice here as the Gold Embossing gave a nice shine onto the card. I chose More Mustard as the base of the card. To create the ‘Squared Top Note’, I used the Big Shot and ran the Top Note Bigz Die with Soft Suede Textured card stock. Then turned the died cut card stock to 90 degrees; placed, centered and aligned with the pointy edges onto the die and ran through the Big Shot again. (Tip: Saved the scraps as they created the brackets which can be use in another project.) I chose one of the leaf stamp from the Falling Leaves Stamp Set and stamped with VersaMark onto Cajun Craze card stock. Heat embossed with Gold Stampin’ Embossing Powder with a Heat Tool. (Tip: Rubbed the Embossing Buddy over card stock before embossing can reduced static and moisture so that embossing powder will only adhered to the stamped image and not anywhere else.) Punched leaves out with 1-1/4″ Circle Punch and layered with More Mustard 1-3/8″ circle punched out.

Supplies:

  • Stamp Set: Falling Leaves (115368), Thank You Kindly (111700)
  • Paper: Cajun Craze, More Mustard, Soft Suede Textured
  • Ink: VersaMark (102283)
  • Tools/ Accessories: Big Shot (113439), Top Note Bigz Die (113463), Heat Tool (100005), Embossing Buddy (103083), Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder (109129), 1-1/4″ Circle Punch (119861), 1-3/8″ Circle Punch (119860), Snail Adhesive (104332)

gateful thank you

closeupI used Brocade Blue as the base of the card and paired with Melon Mambo card stock as a contrast. Stampin’ Up!’s With All My Heart Stamp set was chosen for this project and they teamed up well with the Extra Large Fancy Flower Punch.  First, I created a stencil with card stock simply punched out with the Flower Punch.  I stamped the image with Brocade Blue ink and aligned the stencil on top and sponged with a Stamping Sponge using Bashful Blue Ink.  The sentiment was stamped with Whisper White Craft Ink and heat embossed with White Embossing Powder.  I embellished the card with a medium White Halfback Pearl and glued them with 2-Way Glue Pen.

Supplies:

  • Stamp Set: With All My Heart clear-mount (118623) / wood-mount (118134)

The Rose stamp are one of my favorite stamps from the Fifth Avenue Floral stamp set and I have used it for today’s project.  This Mother’s Day card is a no layer card and no adhesive required and it only took me 10 minutes to create.  How great is that?  But it looks like I have been spending a whole lot more time on it, doesn’t it?  Finished card size: 4-1/4″ X 5-1/2″
rose card

I chose Pale Plum as the base of the card but sadly this color is going to retire at the end of June. Oh well, at least I have already stocked up on it and I am looking forward to play with the new colors that Stampin’ Up! are offering soon. To see the new color collections and retiring colors, click Here for details.

Back to the card – First, I used an Embossing Buddy and rubbed across the card to reduced static before embossing. I stamped the Rose image twice with Whisper White Craft Ink, sprinkled White Embossing Powder over it and heat embossed with a Heat Tool until set. Stamped sentiment with Perfect Plum ink. Here comes to the magic part : I have used an Versamark Marker and traced around the edges of the embossed lines and instantly they gave ‘LIVE’ to the Roses.  I also dressed the card up with the plain side of Rich Razzleberry 1/2″ Polka Dot Grosgrain Ribbon.

Right now until April 30, you can get 20% off the Fifth Avenue Floral stamp set as well as the following springy Two-Step Stampin’ sets:

lantern festivalTonight is the night the Chinese New Year celebrations coming to an end.  It’s ended on the 15th of the First Full Moon with the Lantern Festival known as Yuan Xiao.  The highlight of Yuan Xiao are people going out at night to watch lanterns, solve riddles, enjoy fireworks and traditional performances such as dragon lantern dance and lion dancing at parks or open squares. Families usually get together again eating ‘Tang Yuan’, sweet glutinous rice dumplings which represent the happiness of family reunion and affection and good luck for the New Year.

Today’s card was inspired by the Lantern Festival under the First Full Moon.  This is another Punch Art card.  The moon was created by stenciling with the negative piece from 1-3/4 circle punched out and sponged it onto Basic Black card stock with Whisper White craft ink.  To create the lanterns, I stamped the images from Circle Circus stamp set onto Real Red card stock with gold ink and heat embossed with gold embossing powder.  Punched the embossed images out with Circle and Wide Oval Punch and ran through each punched out into the crimper to create the texture of a lantern.  I frayed some Real Red Grosgrain Ribbon to form the tassels.  The top and base of the lanterns were pieces from the Modern Label Punch, Ornament Punch and Horizontal Slot Punch.  I used the Swirly Sizzlits Decorative Strip Die to make the lanterns that looks like they are hanging from above.

Chinese New Year celebration continues the first 15 days in the Chinese Lunar Calender.  So I thought I will continue to create projects using mostly Stampin’ Up! products to carry on the celebration and let you understand a little more about my culture.

redpacketThe color RED is signifies joy and luck and is an auspicious color for all festive occasions.  No New Year celebration is complete without the traditional gift of ‘red packet, called ‘Lai See’ or ‘Hong Bao’.  The gift of money is usually inside the red packet and is freely given by parents, elderly people or married couples to their children; children of friends and relatives, or to their unmarried friends.  Red Packets may also be given out on weddings, birth of a child, birthdays or any kind of celebrations.  The picture on right shows the tradition of red packets.

Here are my version of the red packets using Stampin’ Up!’s Designer Series Paper. Unfortunately, I couldn’t found an appropriate Chinese character stamp from Stampin’ Up!, therefore the stamp that I used is not from Stampin’ Up! The Chinese character ‘Fu’ on the red packet means luck and prosperity and is the most popular Chinese character used during Chinese New Year.

Each red packet were made out of a sheet of 6″ x 6″ Designer’s Series Paper.  A Paper Cutter with a Scoring Blade and a Bone Folder made an ease for this project.  I particularly chose the Sending Love Specialty Papers because I love the glittery pattern designs and also it has a hint of an Asian inspired to it. I used a corner rounder punch to round off the edges on the flaps. I also used Brushed Gold card stock to die cut the largest circles from Circle # 2 originals die using a Big Shot.

Supplies:

  • Paper: Sending Love Specialty (117513), Real Red (102482), Brushed Gold (102935)
  • Ink: Encore Gold(101017)
  • Tools/ Accessories: Big Shot Die Cut Machine (113439), Circle #2 Originals Dies (114526), 1-3/4″ Circle Punch (112004), 3/16″ Corner Rounder Punch (109047), Heat Tool (100005), Stampin’ Gold Emboss Powder (109129), Embossing Buddy (103083), Bone Folder (102300), Paper Cutter (104152), Stampin’ Dimensionals (104430), Snail Adhesive (104332)

It’s true ! ‘Kindness Comes In Many Forms But Always From The Heart’.  Thanks to those who had already responded to Haiti Relief Campaign by purchasing the I {Heart} Hearts stamp set.  Reminder – from now until February 28, 2010, Stampin’ Up! will donate $2 to the American Red Cross ‘Haiti Relief and Development Fund’ for every I {Heart} Hearts stamp set sold.   Click HERE for more information about the campaign or click HERE to order your set today.

Today’s card, I used the I {Heart} Hearts stamp set and incorporated with chalkboard technique.  Chalkboard technique is a simple technique which uses White Craft Ink and Stampin’ Pastels / Chalk  to highlight images on dark card stock.  First, the kindness sentiment was stamped with White Craft Ink and heat embossed with White Embossing Powder.  Hearts were randomly stamped across the card stock and then applied Stampin’ Pastels with cotton ball.  The chalk colors I used were Summer Sun, Old Olive, Rose Red and Orchid Opulence. For finishing details, I used an eraser that comes with the Stampin’ Pastels kit and erased any excessive chalk that were left on the artwork.

Supplies:

  • Stamp Set: I {Heart} Hearts clear-mount (118571) / wood-mount (117010), Define Your Life (114950)
  • Paper: Night of Navy (100867), Summer Sun (103124), Rose Red (102544)
  • Ink: Whisper White Craft (1101731)
